Approximal plaque and gingival sulcus bleeding in routine dental care patients: relations to life stress, somatization and depression.

2005

Objectives: Previous research on relations between life stress and periodontal conditions was often based on indicators of periodontal destruction history and stimulus-specific measures of life stress. The present study was undertaken to compare patients showing different degrees of gingival sulcus bleeding with patients without signs of bleeding, using an instrument measuring cognitive impacts of events and assessing reported symptoms of depression and somatization. Additionally the patient groups were compared with regard to dental status and dental visiting behaviour. Analog comparisons were conducted in patients with different degrees of approximal plaque. Materials and Methods: 140 rou…

Digital protocol for creating a virtual gingiva adjacent to teeth with subgingival dental preparations.

2019

Abstract Purpose This article describes a digital technique used to record gingival emergence profiles modeled for the prosthetic restoration of teeth prepared using biologically oriented preparation technique (BOPT). Materials and methods The description of the technique of intraoral recording, manipulation of digital files, and chairside protocol of prosthetic restorations is developed in the present manuscript on two anterior teeth treated with vertical and subgingival dental preparations for restoration with ceramic crowns. The manipulation of the digital files registered with an intraoral scanner with software that allows its alignment (best-fit) and the performance boolean of operatio…

Oral myiasis in a cerebral palsy patient: A case report

2010

Oral Myiasis is very rare in healthy persons. It occurs mainly in the tropics and is usually associated with inadequate personal and public hygiene; sometimes accompanied by poor manual dexterity. We present a case of oral myiasis in a mentally retarded, 13- year-old boy suffering with cerebral palsy. The diagnosis was based on the characteristic clinical features and the visualization of wriggling larvae. Large numbers of larvae were found in the gingival sulcus. Treatment consisted of manual removal…
